Mark Brodbeck
Serving: First, Findlay

Congregational Service: I have served in the parish for twenty years. I have led a Bible study dealing with the issue of the ordination of gays and lesbians and the blessing of same-sex unions within my congregation. I have also done some personal reading on this issue.

Synodical or Churchwide Service: I have attended each of the workshops / Bible studies shared by the synod on the issues coming up in the 2005 national assembly.

Community-Related Service: I am currently an active member of the local Rotary. I have participated in Red Cross Blood drives. I have written several articles for our local newspaper. I have sat on numerous committees dealing with medical care for senior citizens, Lutheran Social Services, ecumenical Bible studies, and have helped at several scouting events.

Personal Statement:
Why you are qualified and what particular gifts you possess for this position: I realize that the issues that will be discussed and voted on at the 2005 Assembly have been looked at for the past several years. I have tried to keep an open mind and heart to God’s Word and His will in dealing with these issues. I have led a Bible study within the congregation I serve dealing with the material sent by the ELCA. Also, I have been involved with an ecumenical study with local pastors.

Linda B. Zaye
Serving: St. John’s, McComb

Congregational Service: I have served in the parish. I have attended synod assemblies.

Synodical or Churchwide Service: Currently serving on synod Task Force for Ministry to Families and Friends of Gays and Lesbians; have served on Board for Congregational Ministries; LYO Board

Community-Related Service: Hospice Chaplain; local ministries group

Personal Statement:
Why you are qualified and what particular gifts you possess for this position: I’m a good listener and open to hearing all sides.

Nina C. Dukes
Member: First, Findlay

Congregational Service: Council member for two terms (4 years); Secretary of First Lutheran Church for ten years

Synodical or Churchwide Service: Attended Tri-Synod meeting in Columbus.

Community-Related Service: 25 years registered with the Boy Scouts of America. I serve the local council as the chair for Friends of Scouting / Family Division for Hancock County. This is local fundraising and contributes a large amount to the local council.

Personal Statement:
Why you are qualified and what particular gifts you possess for this position: Working for First Lutheran Church has given me super insight to the workings of the Church from both a staff position and a congregational member. Working as a volunteer for the BSA has allowed me to serve in leadership positions on 10 National Conference staffs and four National Jamboree Staffs.

Barbara A. Slough
Member: Good Hope, Arlington

Congregational Service: I was the church secretary for 17 years and attended many of the transitional meetings in the 80’s. I have always stayed in touch with what was happening in the synod and churchwide. Held all positions on the women’s board throughout the years.

Synodical or Churchwide Service: I served 4 years on the Northwestern Ohio Women’s Synodical Board and was elected in July for another 2-year term.

Community-Related Service: I was active in Arlington Band Parents when my children were in school and sports clubs.

Personal Statement:
Why you are qualified and what particular gifts you possess for this position: On my own I am not qualified to hold the position of a voting member to churchwide, but with the power of God being led through prayer, I feel I would make right choices for the church in this crucial time. I am willing to listen to all sides of an issue and come to an intelligent conclusion.
