Upon Having the Gift of Administration

Some time ago I came across the following poem written by an administrator and instructor at Mount Vernon College in Washington D.C. by the name of B.T. Von Craigh.

This writing includes many of the struggles and the joys of my calling to my administration ministry in my daily life – a ministry I thank God that I have been given the privilege to serve.

We have been called
We administrators
To deal with adversity
To deal with advisement
With those who will and will not
Adhere to the
Adventure of the Vision.

We have been called
We administrators
To minister as a two-edged sword
Where hurting / healing must take place
With those who need / refuse to
Be hurt / be healed.

We have been called
We administrators
To minister into being
A wholesomeness, a wholeness, a (w)holiness
To pastor-persons and persons pastured.

We have been called
We ad ministrators
To joys, despairs,
Good news, frustrations, repairs.

Our own being is called into question,
Through others pain, our vulnerability.
Our very being is ad ministered
By God’s powerful YES
To US
For US
Through US!

Thank you for allowing me to share my gift of administration in the Northwestern Ohio Synod.

Kathleen B. Lemmerbrock
Northwestern Ohio Synod Administrator
