For the Sake of the Mission

I want to share FOR THE SAKE OF THE MISSION of our congregations two opportunities that are designed to further the ministry of our parishes.

THAT ALL MAY WORSHIP CONFERENCE
Saturday, Sept. 28
8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Upper Arlington Lutheran Church, Mill Run Campus
Hillard, Ohio

Our ADAM Task Force has been working with folks from the Southern Ohio Synod on a workshop to assist congregations in becoming barrier free. Remember that barriers are not just stairways. This conference will help parishes to identify and plan how to remove barriers in architecture, communications and attitudes.

The cost is $20 per person, which includes lunch and materials. A registration form has been sent to all of our congregations. This event will be convenient for the southern tier of our congregations. Registration deadline is September 18. Call the synod office if you did not receive a registration form.

PUTTING LEGS ON YOUR MISSION STRATEGY
Saturday, Oct. 12
8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Bluffton College,
Bluffton, Ohio

Pastor David Daubert from the ELCA Division of Outreach will be present to help congregations put legs on their mission strategies. Congregations are asked to bring with them the mission strategy they sent into Bishop Lohrmann last January.

Pastor Daubert will help your congregation move that strategy along. He will focus on purpose and core values which will help put legs on your strategy. Congregations are asked to send their pastor and a team of leaders.

Cost will be $10 per parish and $6 for lunch for each person attending. Each parish will work as a small group and will interact with other congregations and their strategies. A brochure and registration form will be mailed to each parish shortly

Pastor Daubert has responsibility in the national office for the revitalization of congregations. The Bishop and the Assistants had David do a workshop for the staff and wanted the congregations to have a similar opportunity.

Both of these opportunities offer resources and assistance FOR THE SAKE OF THE MISSION.

In Christ's name and for his sake,
Ray Gottschling,
Assistant to Bishop Lohrmann
