Most
programs and activities represent more than one mission and constitute a
balanced effort Together, these three mission areas provide a holistic
approach to living the gospel of Jesus Christ in today's world; they
provide opportunity for women to grow in faith and mission.
Mission: Community: seeks to enable each
woman to value herself and others as created in God's image and redeemed
through Christ and to build up and celebrate relationships that are
global, diverse and interdependent.
Mission Community is to continually ask, "How
does this help us to build up and celebrate new and/or existing
relationships?

Mission: Growth: seeks
to provide a variety of learning experiences that strengthen each woman
as a whole person, develop her potential and equip her for ministry.
Mission Growth is to continually ask, "How is
doing this helping our faith development?"

Mission:Action: seeks
to enable women to articulate and act on their faith as disciples of
Christ and in all arenas of life.
Mission Action is to continually ask, "Does
this provide an opportunity to put our faith into action?"

Our Women of the ELCA purpose statement is carried
out through three different perspectives: Community, Growth, Action.
They cannot be separated any more than God the Father [creator], God the
Son [redeemer] and God the Holy Spirit [sanctifier] can be separated.
So instead of wondering which issues, programs or
resources belong to Growth, which belong to Action and which belong to
Community, know that all issues, programs and resources need all three
perspectives to be wholly addressed.
